Beautiful inside and out, Uncle Johnny or Shadow as we know him at home, is such a wonderful boy and I’ve put off writing this advert so many times. Everyone always comments on how handsome he is and due to his friendly and inquisitive nature he is firmly the yard favourite. Due to an incredibly busy family life and a serious lack of time, I feel it is in Shadow’s best interest to find a new home where he can continue his education.
He is a very gentle soul and very loving and affectionate. He is brilliant with my young children and happily stands to be pampered and led around by them.
I’ve owned Shadow 4 years and know him inside out. He has a very laid back attitude and nothing much seems to faze him. He does not need to be ridden everyday, I can get on after a few weeks doing nothing (albeit after a quick lunge!) and he is still sane and sensible.
Shadow does not love schooling, he can be quite backwards and reluctant to play ball! He never does anything nasty but can plant and refuse to move! I have not pushed this and instead done lots of in hand groundwork including join up and lots of pole work and long lining which he really enjoys. I’m hoping with consistency and patience this will come.
Out hacking in company, Shadow is brave and sensible and always pulls up and is happy to go first or behind. I’ve hacked him a few times alone where he has planted again but I do think this is something that can be overcome with time and patience.
I’ve taken Shadow out to a few clinics and arena hires and he was sensible and well behaved each time and took everything in his stride, he was a bit sticky to load but we have not done a lot of this so will just need a bit of practice.
Shadow does not have any vices, he is very well behaved for the vet and dentist. He can be fidgety for the farrier but is improving, he has front shoes only.
Shadow can live in or out, I’ve always stabled him over the winter as we are on heavy clay.
Shadow sustained a suspensory ligament injury 3 summers ago and was rested and brought back into work slowly. We re-xrayed after a year and the vet was pleased with the recovery but for this reason, strenuous jumping is not advised.
He would be best suited to someone who wanted to mainly hack or do low level riding club activities.
Would consider a full loan or possibly even a share if local to Suffolk.
Please only serious enquiries, being a tb he needs an experienced home where his education can be continued
